PhotoShelter, World Photography Organisation release The Photographer’s Guide to Photo Contests
PhotoShelter released results from its seventh annual guide, The 2020 Photographer’s Guide to Photo Contests. The guide was developed in partnership with the World Photography Organisation, a global platform to honor, present and share the best contemporary photography from around the world, according to the press release. Readers will find tips for creating winning images, interviews with numerous contest winners and a list of 28 photo contests specifically recommended.
“This year we’ve included a gender and POC (person-of-color) breakdown of the juries because we believe that experience shapes the perception of photos and the reality that they depict,” says Allen Murabayashi, co-founder and chairman, PhotoShelter. The guide features World Press Photo, the Sony World Photography Awards, Red Bull Illume, the Nikon Small World Photomicrography Contest, PDN Photo Annual, NPPA Best of Photojournalism, the Audubon Photography Awards, Aperture Portfolio Prize, the APA Awards and Px3. All contest recommendations are based on entry fees, prizes, submission rights and promised exposure.
The 2020 Photographer’s Guide to Photo Contests is the latest in PhotoShelter’s ongoing series of free business guides for photographers and marketing professionals.
